Time to Tame Anti- Sri Lankan Powers

“The first is the request by the Bishops to declare that Madhu area is a war free zone. The Bishops made this request only after the armed forces came to the vicinity of the Church few weeks ago. However, the LTTE was fighting from Madhu church premises and it is now known that the LTTE had bunkers in the premises of the church. The Bishops who tolerated the Bunkers of the tigers are requesting the army to vacate the premises of the church. The so called no war zone is humbug and the Bishops know very well that if the army leaves then the terrorists would come back to live "happily ever after". It is very unlikely that neither the army nor the government will listen to the Bishops who are sympathetic to the western countries and the LTTE.’

(May 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The provincial council elections in the Eastern Province are scheduled for 10th May. There are two main alliances in the battle for power. The UNP- SLMC alliance and the alliance of the SLFP, TMVP, JHU, MEP, EPDP and the Muslim parties other than the SLMC. There are number of issues that have been raised but basically it is a struggle between the national forces and the non national forces.

It is increasingly becoming clear to most people that the LTTE has the blessings and the sponsorship of the western powers. Though the problem is projected to the world by the western media as that of the Sinhala Buddhists suppressing the Tamil Hindus beginning with the Official Language Act, it is a phenomenon that commenced with the westerners occupying the maritime regions in Sri Lanka. As in the other countries the westerners from the beginning have been hell-bent in destroying the major culture in the country with the assistance of those belonging to other cultures. It has been a case of not giving the due place to the Sinhala Buddhist culture and if possible destroying the culture.

If everything began with the Official Language Act as claimed by people such as Shainie who does not have the guts to name me by person when he/she writes propaganda against Sinhala people, then one should explain the reason as to why SJV Chelvanayakam formed the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kadchchi (ITAK-Lanka Tamil State Party) long before the Official Language Bill became the law of the country. The communal politics of Tamils were manoeuvred by the British governors (or were they UK governors?) and the Tamil Vellala leaders who were made to understand that they were the leaders of the country began asking for more than equal rights for the Tamils in the legislative assembly, state council and also when they went before the various commissions appointed by the British to recommend constitutional changes. These are recorded in history written by so called Historians and number of theses have been submitted and accepted along the same theme. (I will deal with History in general in a forthcoming series of articles) In any event it is not my invention that ITAK was formed before the Official Language Act and one does not have to have a degree in History to read and understand Jane Russell.

The ordinary Sinhala Catholics were the first to realise that their religion is not threatened by the Sinhala Buddhist culture and gradually they were able to have a very good relationship with the Sinhala Buddhists. It is heartening to note that the majority of Muslims have also realised though remnants of old misgivings due to the British are still being propagated by the SLMC. The Tamils also have entered a process of understanding that Sinhala Buddhist culture is not a threat to their culture. However, Prabhakaran is still alive, and with the assistance given by the non national forces, some Bishops who are representing the western Judaic Christian culture though they may officially belong to the Catholic culture, bodies such as IIGEP, various NGOs and of course some sections of the media, is trying to continue with the anti Sinhala Buddhist policies of the Catholic Portuguese who came in the sixteenth century. We will consider just two cases in support of our theme though there are many such examples.

The first is the request by the Bishops to declare that Madhu area is a war free zone. It is very unlikely that neither the army nor the government will listen to the Bishops who are sympathetic to the western countries and the LTTE.

The second point that I would like to consider is the so called International Independent Group of Eminent Persons. There could be eminent crooks also and now it has become clear that the IIGEP has come with the intention of crucifying the government of Sri Lanka for so called violations of human rights.

There are no human rights as such but individual rights of those who are with the westerners. When the west and their friends violate the individual rights whether they are in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam or any other place the western countries see no "human rights" being violated. However, when they want to protect terrorists like the LTTE who are in essence working for them, without being defeated they invoke the right to protect thesis. It is the right to protect their allies and they will drag in a few so called human rights violations in order to send their troops sometimes in the guise of UN forces to attack the governments that have launched operations against their darling terrorists. In the meantime they will "sing baila" to the tune of "terrorism in all countries should be defeated".

In operations against a ruthless terrorist group such as the LTTE it is unavoidable that a few innocent people are harassed and sometimes killed. What the government has to do is to see that those incidents are kept to a minimum. What is the record of the west in protecting human rights in the countries mentioned above? When USA (and the allies) decided to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan had already lost the war. It was merely a case of testing the new weapon and the Japanese people were the unfortunate victims. How about an Asian court of men appointed by Iran, China and Sri Lanka to look into the whole episode and dishonour the people responsible for the massacre even posthumously. However we do not have the power to do so and only the west can appoint independent crooks to look into this type of charges. It is a clear case of "Naduth Hamuduruvange Baduth Hamuduruvange" (The accuser and the judge are the same) .

Now what has this got to do with the provincial council elections on the 10th . The UNP – SLMC alliance will not only bring back the LTTE to the east but proceed to give both the eastern province and the northern province to the terrorists on a platter. When Ranil Wickremesinghe threatens to disarm Pillaiyan and not Prabhakaran one knows who is on whose side. UNP –SLMC represent the west and the non national forces, including those Bishops who allowed Prabhakaran to construct bunkers, (I would not be surprised if Prabhakaran is in a bunker built in the premises of a church as the army would not attack a church) that sponsor the LTTE. With or without pacts UNP –SLMC is with the LTTE.
