(April 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Chairman of the Local Film Producers Association Dilman Jayaratne called for the boycott of Tamil and Indian films as a tit-for-tat move against the holding up of the movie ‘Prabhakaran’ by the Indian authorities.
Refuting claims that the film was taken to India in violation of Indian Immigration and Emigration regulations, he said that the Film Corporation had given green light to take the negatives to Tamil Nadu. All Indian Customs regulations were adhered to in this regard, he stressed.
He charged that the Indian High Commission has not taken any steps resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, the National Patriotic Movement last week staged a protest rally in front of the Indian Cultural Centre against the non release of the negatives and the assault on producer Thushara Peris.
"We handed over a letter of protest", said Bandula Chandraskera of the NPM at a media briefing.
He said that the protest rally could have been held in front of the Indian High Commission but they refrained from doing so. "Why are those people who held demonstrations against the banning of the film ‘Purahande Kaluware’ now keep away from protesting against the Indian decision?", he queried.
"The Indian Government has no right to detain the film. If the negatives are not released within in a week a fast to death will be staged", he warned.
