British Labour MP Stephen Timms Supporter of LTTE Terrorists in UK

“MP Stephen Timms has showed blatant disregard to the fact that the LTTE is a proscribed terrorist organisation in the UK and was more that happy to assist representatives of the BTF (British Tamil Forum) which included Mr Kunabalasingham and Mr KP Nathan of ELC Solicitors based in Ealing, in booking the UEL as a venue to host this event.”

(March 22, London, Sri Lanka Guardian) British Parliamentarian Stephen Timms, Member of Parliament for East Ham representing the UK's Labour party had invited delegates from the Tamil community to join him at the seminar on the "Ethnic Conflict in Sri Lanka" today at the University of East London.

It is said that when the guests of MP Stephen Timms arrived they were refused entry by the events organisers who were pro-LTTE supporters of the BTF (British Tamil Forum).
Instead of having the decency of boycotting the seminar MP Stephen Timms showed no remorse or disregard and conveniently refused to walk out of the meeting in protest for refusing entry his guests who had contributed so much towards Sri Lanka and the community. It is said that Stephen Timms MP was hesitant to intervene as all is interested in is the votes from the Sri Lankan Tamil community and he is after the crucial votes from them as his constituency East Ham comprises mainly of Sri Lankan Tamils of which a sizable portion support the LTTE.

MP Stephen Timms has showed blatant disregard to the fact that the LTTE is a proscribed terrorist organisation in the UK and was more that happy to assist representatives of the BTF (British Tamil Forum) which included Mr Kunabalasingham and Mr KP Nathan of ELC Solicitors based in Ealing, in booking the UEL as a venue to host this event.

One of the guests a leader of a mainstream Sri Lankan democratic political party was said to be furious and livid at being refused entry and what was allegedly supposed to be an "open meeting" for all peace loving Sri Lankans to attend. It is also learnt that many Human Rights activists from within the Sri Lankan community that had booked a seat were also refused entry. None of the security guards hired by the BTF wore SIA (Security Industry Authority) License badges, a mandatory requirement by law in the United Kingdom. They were infact hired thugs of the LTTE who were there to intimidate guests who were invited.

Despite the protests from the Sri Lankan students and staff of the Univesity, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of East London hired the venue out to the BTF on the assurances of MP Stephen Timms that the event was an open seminar for all Sri Lankans to attend regardless of their political opinions and views. It is said that MP Stephen Timms works closely with his colleague Member of Parliament Keith Vaz, Labour MP for Leicester East who acts as Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Tamils, a group that was formed to represent the interests of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) at the House of Commons.

It seems MP Stephen Timms is a very politically ambitious man who like to play to the voter base regardless of their background.

One thing he doesn't know is, every one who associated with LTTE went down since LTTE has mastered the art of exploitation than a novice British politician.

Meanwhile, enjoy the honeymoon with Godfathers.

Bad thing about democracy is that MPs act for votes and not for conviction.

In this instance the MP knew he was doing the wrong thing but as you have rightly pointed out he was more concerned about the votes.

Unfortuently UK is a democracy and the MPs will contineu to do whatever to get votes and will care little about right and wrong.

I think this article is ill timed as it will only serve strength to the likes of KTR, WJ and DJ who want to pounce of on the good offices of our Sri Lankan diplomats in London for not being able to prevent this meeting.

Yours,

These British whether they are a member of parliment or not can never give up the idea that their empire has vanished and that they should stick to their local issues. Can you imagine them trying to convince the Americans that their human rights issues are not the greatest. He would be banned from entering the us.

This further reinforces British duplicity that is apparently inherent amongst the British ruling elite.
