(January 27, Chennai, Sri Lanka Guardian) The President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapakse had remarked recently that no one other than the police or military were authorised to carry weapons which is rather ironic because he has failed to disarm the terrorist Karuna/Pillaiyan Group (TMVP) who are no different to the LTTE in the East and has allowed them to have a free ride intimidating memebrs of the public, abducting innocent civilians for ransom including foreigners visiting the East and also killing a number of innocent civilians and members of other poltical groups.

How can the President of Sri Lanka continue to allow the Pillaiyan/Karuna group to carry arms and then remark that no one can carry arms other than the police or army. It is quite obvious that the Rajapakse Regime supports this terrorist group and does not want free and fair elections in the East. This is further evident in relation to the recent killings in the East outside a Mosque where innocent civilians were shot by the Pillaiyan/Karuna group (TMVP).

The President and the Ministry of Defence still did not have the obligation to order the disarmament of the TMVP. This is how corrupt the Rajapakse Regime really is.
