“We Cannot Be Deterred or Daunted By Any Force” – UNP

(December, 15, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) "It is only the United National Party that had the courage and uprightness to fearlessly and frankly express its opposition and vote against the most vicious Budget of the Rajapakse regime .As always, the UNP has been a Party that has shown primary concern for the people. Therefore, it had to represent the will of the people by rejecting the wavering, anti national and despotic policies of the Govt. trampling and crushing the masses with untold burdens and hardships. In any event the Govt.’s vote for the second reading was 119 while the vote for the final reading was only 114 votes," said UNP in it's latest press statement.

"This is a Govt. that is having no plan, program or aim drifting on corruption, tyranny and wastage of people’s monies. Unlike a party that changes its colour and policies within just 25 days, UNP has always been steadfast in its policies, plans and programs. Once again we emphasise that UNP as a Party will continue to pursue its objectives totally oriented to the upliftment of the people and alleviation of their hardships," it's also said.

"Abductions, intimidations and murder threats to MP’s under this Govt. is no secret. The UNP severely condemns these actions brazenly committed by the Govt. which the country witnessed during the pre budget period," the statement added.

ccording to the Statement, "The Govt’.s backslide has begun, and this cannot be averted any longer by its continued lies, false promises and deceipts."

"The UNP cannot be deterred or daunted by any force, however evil and undemocratic, and its march alongside with the people in its Janadhuka alleviation program to relieve them of their destitution and sufferings will continue uninterrupted."
