Crazy Doctor’s Innocent Victim

(November,16, Katunayake, Sri Lanka Guardian) Thousands of garments factory workers, both men and women, staged a massive demonstrate on a Katana yesterday protecting against the killing of one of their colleagues ,22 years old Chhmail Kumari Disanayake, on Monday ( 12 November).

The workers, belonging to the Free Trade Zone factories in Katunayake, marched from the funeral par lour at Katana, Negombo, where the remain of Chamila lie, towards Negombo holding placards and shouting slogan. Police persuaded the demonstrators to disperse.

Chamila came from Monaragala after end of her school education.

Chamila, who attended a clinic at the Negombo Hospital on Monday, died at the Ragama hospital after sustaining head and other injuries in a fall from the sixth floor of the Negombo Hospital. Police investigations revealed that she attended a clinic on the third floor of the Hospital and had been told by the crazy doctor , who attended on her, to meet him at this quarters on sixth floor.

An eye witness had told the Police that the Crazy doctor was seen dragging a heavy object placed on a card board towards a window of the sixth floor. The 33 years old doctor Balage was arrested by the Negombo Police and on being produced in Court was remanded till November 27, on witch date an identification on parade had been ordered.

The personal belongings, including her clothes were taken into custody from the doctor’s quarters. A bottle of chloroform was also found there.
