S.L. High Commission in UK, Has own house, but wastes large sums on rented premises

It is alleged that this Govt. even in this bankrupt state is taking no steps to halt the criminal waste of funds of the toiling tax payers.

Negligence and lethargy of the Govt. to renovate the only residence belonging to the Sri Lanka High Commission (HC) in U.K. has cost unnecessary wastage of large sums of taxpayers money on rented premises.

The H.C .has rented a comfortable house at a monthly fee at a staggering 8000 sterling pounds. Indeed, the rent originally was just pounds 3000, then raised to 5000 pounds and finally to the present controversial 8000 pounds!

The HC is also spending a further 35000 sterling pounds as house rents to house 25 staffers attached to the mission!

Absence of consistent policies, an overriding characteristic of the Rajapakse administration has resulted in him staff of these overseas missions taking unwelcome decisions which have not been in the best interests of the country. Raging political appointments sans merits have also contributed to the fast deterioration of the service, it is alleged

It is worthy of note that, wastes in overseas missions have been ever growing while the Govt. has been irresponsibly heedless.
